Mahendragiri Delivered to Indian Navy in Mumbai, Marking Major Leap in Indigenous Warship Capability
The Indian Navy has received Mahendragiri, the sixth Nilgiri-class (Project 17A) frigate, delivered in Mumbai. The Defence Ministry stated that Mahendragiri embodies a quantum leap in naval engineering, incorporating enhanced stealth characteristics, greater firepower, advanced automation systems, and improved survivability. Significantly, Mahendragiri is the sixth Project 17A frigate delivered to the Indian Navy within a span of less than 17 months since the induction of the first ship of the class, Nilgiri.
